Ayaka Chouwa (Chouwa, Ayaka 調和,絢花) is a fictional character that is an OC created for the Anime and Manga series Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and related media. Ayaka is a talented Kunoichi living in Konohagakure and the daughter of a clan leader. She was created and designed by SweetCandySoftMelody on Photobucket and Youtube.

Ayaka is the only child of her parents; Chii Chouwa and Kai Chouwa; whom is the head of the clan. Ayaka demonstrated an interest in the Ninja arts early in life. Her father, Kai, is the current leader of the clan; born into his position. Kai lost many of his close shinobi friends during missions of his life. Because of this he is very protective of Ayaka and originally, did not want Ayaka to become a ninja. However he decided to let her because she is his only child and he wanted the leadership of the clan to stay in the family. Due to being an only child, and the child of the clans head family, Ayaka received a lot of attention growing up. She was praised for her perfect use of her genjutsu, her high intelligence, respectful nature and willingness to learn. Her father worked her hard so that she would become strong, have a very low chance of getting hurt in battle, and be a good leader. Ayaka’s parents adore her endlessly. Her father teaches her about how important it is to be determined and diligent in all areas of life and never take the easy way out. He is a very serious person; much like herself, so sometimes he forgets to let her take a break or to praise her accomplishments, but he loves his daughter very much. Her mother always makes sure to remind her father when she needs a break and is there to congratulate Ayaka. Ayaka was trained hard from a young age and in response is very strong and intelligent now. She wants to make her parents as proud as she can possibly make them.

Ayaka is rather passive and keeps quiet when not in the company of close friends; though she is not shy, she is reasonably social with other children her own age. She is poised and polite, very obedient of her parents and other superiors, and never talks back. She always uses proper name suffixes. Ayaka does what is expected of her and is a hard worker. She works hard to please her parents with both her ninja skills and her studies. She is kind and willing to help people in need. Ayaka makes good judgments usually because she takes her time analyzing situations and is cautious. She is very loyal to those she is affiliated with and cannot easily have her morals corrupted. She all around has a calm demeanor and is happy for what she has.

She is a very determined ninja and diligent in all she does. Ayaka has a strong will and work ethic, and she takes her father’s lessons very seriously and doesn’t step out of line often if at all. She is quick-witted, easily taught and a very docile person. Ayaka is extremely respectful to all people she meets unless they have done something to lose her respect. Adults and parents are found of her due to her lack of rebellious activities, and respect for her elders. She is very considerate and respectful with her speech and the things she says. Ayaka comes off as quiet, calm, and, reserved but confident, sophisticated and self assured; which makes her seem quite mysterious to other children she meets who are her age. She isn’t very facially expressive but doesn’t mask her emotions either.

A setback in her personality is she might be too passive and reserved; especially for someone who is to hold a position of power. While she definitely always has an opinion she rarely states it since she prefers to keep her personal opinions to herself and keeps her disagreements quiet. Ayaka is rarely gets angry but can become frustrated in certain intense situations. She dislikes being involved with drama and conflict. She prefers to never take sides in others arguments and disagreements. On missions she prefers to be cautious and avoids battles when they are not necessary and she never underestimates an opponent. All together Ayaka, is a charming, pleasant, very likeable and amiable young girl who has many pleasant, good-natured personal qualities.

AyakaandKaiMisogihirai Shūhō

Misogi Harai

As stated Ayaka is very obedient and respectful of her superiors. She dislikes when others become to rebellious or disrespectful of them without very justifiable reason. She is very loyal and family means a lot to her. She greatly dislikes when people openly and willingly go out of their way to hurt others. In fact she can be quite sensitive about it and get hurt easily. Ayaka has many other morals that come from her religion. Ayaka was raised Shinto and believes in both Kami , Ancestor Veneration, and the Afterlife. Purity is one of the fundamental virtues of Shinto ethics. There are two significations of purity. One is outer purity or bodily purity and the other inner purity or purity of heart. If a man is endowed with true inner purity of heart, he will surely attain God-realization or communion with the Divine. Ayaka also practices Misogi harai (water purification) with the use of waterfalls. Sincerity is also the guiding ethical principle of Shinto that Ayaka believes in. Ayaka also takes the Ten Precepts of Shinto rather seriously. Though spirituality is very important to her, she does not care if other people practice or believe in it; as she is naturally a very tolerant and accepting person.

The Chouwa Clan ( 調和一族, Chouwa Ichizoku) is a unique clan with high skills in Genjutsu. They specialise in music related techniques and techniques that affect the senses. The Chouwa clan’s abilities are based on musical sound waves and manipulating an opponent’s sense of hearing. With proper technique the user can manipulate opponents hearing and use it against them. The clan can manipulate the musical sounds in the world around them making the opponent not be able to hear at all or have hearing intensified so highly that they become disoriented, confused, lose motor skills, and have such severe head pains that they cannot focus. The better the user is with genjutsu the more confused the opponent becomes and the more their senses become impaired.(Musical Manipulation Jutsu) This is done by converting sound/music into Chakra. The clan can also make it sound as if they are attacking from a different direction or all directions at once by manipulating the sound. (Hearing Switch Technique) The user can manipulate the hearing of just one person or an entire group of people. Members of the clan are impervious to the jutsus if they are the ones who performed it, and hear normally when the jutsus take place. The effects are especially strong when channeled from one particular controlled source. Because of this ability, members of the clan usually have a signature small instrument they use in battle such as pan flutes, small cymbals, triangles, ocarinas, hand harps etc. Some of the clan members wear their instruments such as various bells, small drums slung over the body, wind chimes or other tiny instruments. Another ability is a ninjutsu “Chouwa Telepathy Technique” that allows the user to communicate telepathically with another person. This can be extremely useful but has its drawbacks. It can only be done between members of the clan, between only two members at once, and can only be done with the use of an instrument. The instrumental notes are used to send a complex melodic code to the other. The Chouwa is rather secretive about this technique. The Chouwa clan is also known for a mastery in chakra control. The clan lacks in taijutsu.

Kekkei Genkai:

The Sacchigan is a Dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai wielded by the Chouwa clan. The Sacchigan somewhat “perfects” the users five senses for a short period of time. For sight; it gives the user somewhat of a “zoom” ability to see things from far away, and tiny objects, in a range of no more than 35 feet. For hearing; it gives the user extra-sensory hearing allowing the user to hear very soft sounds from far away, about a quarter of a mile. It also gives the user extra sensory taste and smell. This can come in handy for locating people based on scent and tasting the earth, or to find how close water is. The Kekkei Genkai is powerful and unique but has major downfalls. The ability can only last a couple minutes at most. The ability drains a lot of chakra, energy, strength, and stamina the second it is turned on and continues to drain the longer it is used. This can render the user useless in a battle after it’s done being used. If it is overused; used for longer than the body can handle or used incorrectly the user will fall unconscious without warning. So the clan members only use it in dire situations for only a minute or so. Another downfall is that it also advances the sense of touch. This works against the user because if they are hit or injured in battle they will feel the pain ten-fold. All members of the clan inherit the kekkei genkai usually sometime around mid adolescence or early puberty.

The Chouwa clan members are known for typically having very dark toned hair, pale-to-porcelain skin tones and very unique eye color iris shades. The eye color shades in the clan include shades of purples, golds, yellows, oranges, pinks, reds, silvers and even white. There are very few exceptions and is extremely rare to see someone in the clan with naturally occurring light hair, tanned-to-dark skin, or blue, green, hazel or brown eyes. These genetic traits only occur if one of the members parents were of a different clan

Unlike the majority of Clans; the majority of the clan members are centralized under a certain religion. The Chouwa clan have a sturdy belief system in Shintoism. The Chouwa have the deepest respect for the Kami, Benzaiten, which makes the clan have a deep respect for music for not only as battle practice but as an art. Each member practices instrumentals or singing as a way of pleasing this particular Kami. Though most of the Clan believes in Shintoism; no one is punished or frowned down upon for not following the belief system or for not doing certain Shinto practices. This is because in Shintoism typically does not require professing faith to be a believer or a practitioner. The belief of everything having a Kami makes the clan also has a strong respect for the beauty of nature

The Chouwa clan symbol is a stylized version of the kanji "音". The meaning of the kanji can be translated to "note", "noise" or "sound." Around the kanji are four bold dots. The reason there are four dots is that each dot is supposed to be representative of one of the Four Affirmations of Shinto. Around the dots and the kanji is a circle. The circle was included outside the design is because circles are often used to reperesent unity and the clan takes pride in how close-knit and unified they are.

Kai Chouwa is the current head of the clan. Clan leaders are usually the most well suited child of the current leading family. This is only not the case if the children are deemed unfit to lead by the majority of the clan; then a child of the closest relative family would be considered. If they are deemed unfit then a new family will be voted into lead position. To be deemed unfit someone must have a severe mental handicap, be hinderingly weak, have corrupted morals or values, lack leadership qualities, be considered unintelligent, or be considered apathetic, lazy or unmotivated. The Chouwa clan has a very large compound. Geographically the Chouwa clan has a compound inside of Konohagakure. The clan is somewhat isolated though since the compound is surronded by walls and is located on top of a hill. The Chouwa clan has a close relationship with the Kutsuu Clan, and for years have usually teamed up with each other.

Ayaka and Kai

[OC]Kai Chouwa(Father):

Kai is Ayaka’s father. They are very close, and Ayaka wishes to please him as much as possible. They bond over training and he has been training Ayaka hard since she was six years old. Sometimes he trains her too hard but it’s only to bring out the best in her. Kai expects a lot out of his daughter but is very proud of her and all her accomplishments. She wants to live up to her father’s expectations and make him proud . Kai appreciates his daughters obedience, politeness, and respect. He does joke that Ayaka is overly respectful. She often formally bows to him since he is the clan leader. Though he insist that this is unneeded since she is his daughter. He is similar to Ayaka in his seriousness, diligence, confidence and sophistication. He unknowingly puts a lot of pressure on his daughter to be perfect but Ayaka never comments on this. His instrument is a taiko drum .

Ayaka and Chii

[OC]Chii Chouwa (Mother):

Chii is Ayaka’s mother. She is very feminine and docile. She has hemophilia which is why she was never a ninja. She didn’t mind this, so she became interested in botanical medicine to contribute to her clan. This is knowledge she passed down to Ayaka. She loves her family very much. Chii worries that her husband is too aggressive with Ayaka but usually doesn’t usually comment on it. Chii is very thankful that her daughter didn’t inherit her health problem that she lost her twin sister, Chizu, too. Chii loves to garden and play her flute with Ayaka. She can also play the Koto . She loves animals, nature and poetry very much as well. She is similar to her daughter in her purity, innocence, empathy, charm and spirituality. She also works as a Shrine Maiden and wears the traditional Miko when she is performing her tasks. Chii is well known for her beauty, respectful nature, and innocence. Chii rarely calls Ayaka by her actual name; preferring to call her affectionate names like “darling”, “sweetheart”, “my sweet child” or “my little princess.” She and Ayaka have the same physical features and personality. Ayaka becomes more like her more and more as the years go on; which donned Ayaka the nickname, “Chibi-Chii.” Chii has a pet female rabbit named Haiku. Her instrument is a Shinobue Fue.

[OCs]Yukio Chouwa and Ikuko Chouwa (Grandparents):

Yukio and Ikuko are Ayaka's paternal grandparents. They are both very involved in her life and often give her advice and guidance. They get along very well and are much closer than most children are with their grandparents.

Yukio is much like his son in that he wants the clan leadership to stay in the immediate family. He's the second generation clan leader in Ayaka's immediate blood line and unlike Kai, he tended to be more pompous about the title but he is overall well-meaning. He approves of Ayaka's hard training and studying, but loves her very much and is proud of her consistent progress over the years. His position as clan leader went to his son after developing heart and spinal problems after the attack of the Nine-Tailed-Fox.(When Kai was 24 and Yukio was 55)

Ikuko is very loving of Ayaka as well as her entire family. She's very laid back and often states that Ayaka needs more time to act like a child. She and Ayaka share the same love of birds and play the same instrument. She shows great care and concern towards Ayaka and takes a vested interest in her growth and well being. Ikuko is rather against the fact that Ayaka still wants to be affiliated with Sho, but knows that it's Ayaka's choice.

[OC]Kikyo Chouwa (Second Cousin):

Kikyo is Ayaka’s second cousin; as their father’s were cousins. She and Ayaka are almost exact opposites in personality; she is loud, rebellious, enthusiastic, expressive and silly. However, she is also very tom-boyish, friendly and sociable. Despite not having many of personality traits in common she is Ayaka's best friend and has been for their entire lives. They are always there to support each other when the other needs them. Her instrument is an Ocarina .

[OC]Shō Chouwa (First Cousin) *main antagonist*:

Shō Chouwa is Ayaka’s maternal first cousin. He is stoic in expression and is outwardly calm and reserved. Shō is not a ninja; he was not allowed because he inherited his mother’s hemophilia. So his father and Ayaka’s father forbade him from becoming a shinobi; deciding that it was too risky. Becoming a Shinobi is all Shō ever wanted. Since he was not allowed to he became very angry, cruel, tenacious and cynical. His anger and disappointment over this he often took out on Ayaka growing up. He became very resentful of her and also very jealous; he eventually grew to hate her. His jealousy stemmed from her having everything she ever wanted. She was allowed to be a ninja, was praised by her clan for her abilities and personality. He also is jealous that Ayaka has Chii. His mother (Chii’s twin sister, Chizu)died during childbirths due to her severe hemophilia. Shō started to train in secret at a young age. He almost died a few times but eventually grew to get great dexterity. He became great at ninjutsu and taijutsu(much better than Ayaka), and decent at genjutsu. He also has high stamina, seal knowledge and is very intelligent. Because of these unnoticed accomplishments he’s grown very arrogant. Shō is jealous he wasn’t born into the head family. He believes is much more capable and talented than Ayaka. Shō is certain he would be a much better clan leader than his cousin. No one, not even Ayaka wass aware of his abilities or feelings. Since Ayaka values family all she has wanted was to make peace with her cousin since she is fully aware of his resentment against her. His instruments are a whistle and a harmonica .

[Canon]Ino Yamanaka:

Ayaka with her friend Ino

Ayaka’s friend of two years. They were acquaintances at the ninja academy, but became closer after Sakura Haruno ended her friendship with Ino. They met through their mothers. Chii often took Ayaka to the Yamanka flower shop to get plants for their gardening and botanical medicinal teachings. Ayaka admires Ino’s confidence, comeliness and is very impressed by her clans jutsus. She dislikes her fangirlism over Sasuke, she thinks it’s quite silly. The two are very close despite their differences and rarely fight; they have a very loving friendship.

[Canon]Inoichi Yamanaka:

Ayaka’s acquaintance. She’s met him multiple times while hanging out at Ino’s house. She likes his indulgent and gentlemanly disposition. He reminds her of her own father.

[Canon]Chōji Akimichi:

Ayaka’s friend of a few months in Part 1. She became his friend through Ino. Ayaka finds Chōji to be very kind, polite and caring. She also finds him to be humorous and enjoys his company. One reason Ayaka enjoys being his friend is she often looks to him with advice over dealing with nervousness over being leader of her clan one day; since Chōji is slated to become the sixteenth leader of his clan. She wishes Chōji was more confident in himself.

[Canon]Sakura Haruno:

Ayaka’s acquaintance. She doesn’t mind Sakura too much. She thinks she seems like a caring, loving person. However, Ayaka is turned off from talking to her. She thinks it’s mean how she hits and treats Naruto. She doesn't become a regular associate of her's until after Sasuke leaves Konoha.

[Canon]Sasuke Uchiha:

She has never personally talked to him but had class with him in the academy. She is impressed with his skills and thinks he is very talented from the time she meets him. Ayaka eventually grows to dislike key aspects in his personality. She doesn’t like his cold exterior, cruel nature and his apathy and arrogance turns her off. Ayaka also suspects he has a superiority complex which rubs her the wrong way, especially because of her beliefs of the equality of people and Kami being superior. Ayaka sees him as rude because he never uses proper honorifics. Though she is not particularly fond of Sasuke she doesn’t hold any haste against him and when he leaves Konoha for Orochimaru she is saddened.

[Canon]Naruto Uzumaki:

Ayaka’s friend. Back in the academy and early days as a genin she had only a few conversations with him. Ayaka; along with the the rest of Konoha 11, sees Naruto much more than just being Kurama's jinchūriki. Ayaka becomes closer to Naruto after he helps her emotinally with her cousin's deserting of Konoha. She also felt he was the only one who could relate to her situation. She admires his ambition and moral values. She also likes his exuberance and love for his friends because it reminds her of her friends Ino and Kikyo.

Zen, Osamu, Ayaka, Tenshi

[OC]Tenshi Kutsuu (Teammate):

Ayaka’s acquaintance at the academy, who is now one of her closest friends. They care for and support each other very much. She finds Tenshi to be a charming and supportive young boy whom she is glad to have as her closest male friend. The two level out each other’s negative points and care for each other very much. Tenshi develops a crush on Ayaka early in their friendship. He finds her to be amiable and admires her very much. However he comes to realize that Ayaka is not interested in being in a relationship and what she really needs is friendship and support, not romance. Tenshi is able to get over his crush on her in order to be there in the way she really needs him to be.

[OC]Osamu Shimizu(Teammate):

Ayaka and Osamu are pretty good friends. They both care for each other and have fun in each other’s company. Ayaka does get irritated with him sometimes though. He can be very rebellious, irresponsible and often disrespectful. It took her a while to get used to this part of his personality. Early in there teaming up she often mistook his carefreeness as being reckless, and Osamu mistook her responsibility as being uptight. Their clashing personality types is brought on by the obvious differences in the way they were raised. They eventually accepted each other's personalities and ignored the way their opinions clashed; forming a brother-sister type relationship.

[OC]Mimasuya Zen(Sensei):

Ayaka’s sensei. She is very fond of him, respectful to him and likes him very much. Zen is impressed by Ayaka’s abilities and her maturity. He makes sure the rest of team realizes that she should be left in charge if he isn’t present or incapacitated at anytime on a mission.

Part I:

Ayaka stands at 141.22cm and weighs 34.28kg. She is skinny in appearance; almost scrawny. She has a small build, small breast and narrow hips. She is also short in stature and is thin and lean. Ayaka's face is framed neatly by her long, thick, pure black hair that is worn in loose waves. It hangs to the middle of her hips and has thickly fringed wavy side bangs on both side. She has pale skin that contrasts with her dark hair, rosy cheeks and light pink lips. In terms of her facial features; she has thin eyebrows, a small nose and plump lips. Ayaka also has distinctive large, round, light lilac/lavender tone eyes with flecks of blue and long dark black eyelashes. Ayaka looks like her mother in terms of facial features and stature, but she has her fathers coloration; eyes, skin and hair. Ayaka’s eyes become a deep gold color when her dōjutsu is activated. All in all Ayaka is usually considered a very pretty, unique looking young girl.

Back of her Part 1 outfit

Ayaka wears a short white and dark purple dress that is cut off on the sides that make leg openings. On the back of her dress she has her clan symbol stitched in. She wears matching bell-sleeved arm warmers tied in place with dark purple ribbons. This is complimented with matching opaque white thigh-high stockings tied in place with dark purple ribbons. Under her stockings she wears bandages wrapped around her legs. Under her dress she wears a lilac colored long sleeved shirt with a collar, and short white bandage shorts. Underneath her shirt she wears a bandage bra and underneath her bandage shorts she wears black briefs. A blue shuriken holster is placed over her bandage shorts on her right leg. Over her dress she wears a bright purple obi. Her obi is worn with the bow on the back and has light colored nature designs. On the middle of the obi bow her clan sign is stitched in. Ayaka can also be seen sporting standard black ninja shoes, a standard hip pouch(when on missions), and a white frilly ninja headband as a hair band. On her hair band she has four silver bells attached, two on each side.

Part II:

Shippuden AyakareDone copy

In Part II Ayaka has grown 5.5 inches, still being short in comparison to the other Konohagakure females. She has leaned out even more, making her still appear rather scrawny; to her dislike. She has the same small build, small breast and narrow hips. Her hair has grown to to the top of her calf and her bangs are a bit thicker. She now keeps it tied back in a high ponytail since it has grown to long to not be a disturbance in battle without keeping it tied back. Her face appears the same mostly, but has considerbly matured since age eleven; giving her a more mature version of her beauty.

Ayaka still wears a white and dark purple dress; but it is now a short-sleeve, body-hugging, cheongsam. Her cheongsam is cut out at the top, revealing her collarbones and the top of her chest, but her breast are still completely covered. Her cheongsam is also cut off on the sides making leg openings. On the back of her dress she has her clan symbol stitched in. Ayaka wears matching white armwarmers dark purple ribbons placed on the topl connecting it to her dress. This is complimented with long tabi-socks. Under her dress she wears short white bandage shorts. Over her dress she wears a lilac colored Obi with a purple ribbon over it. A blue shuriken holster is placed over her bandage shorts on her right leg. Ayaka also wears standard black ninja shoes with the standard ninja heel. She wears a standard hip pouch when on missions and the same hairband she wore in Part I.

Along with the rest of her clan Ayaka uses her sound based genjutsus. She’s worked hard on mastering her genjutsu since she was a child. She currently excels with it and also excels in technique and intelligence. Genjutsu is naturally her best ability; along with the rest of her clan and because of her father's training she masters it at an early age right before she becomes a Genin. Being a natural with genjutsu; she also learned how to dispel genjutsu and can usually be able to resist certain genjutsus. She is also reasonably good at seal knowledge and ninjutsu. However since she has payed so much attention to these specific areas; taijutsu, speed, stamina, and strength have suffered in comparison. Since Ayaka has such poor strength and taijutsu she so sticks to mid-to-long range fighting. Physical attacks with the use of her body provide little-to-no damage(depending on the opponent). She does not have the proper flexibility or balance to be talented with taijutsu; and in fact she can be quite clumsy in battle. She will usually use her genjutsu abilities to confuse and disorient her opponent and then her teammates will come in and attack with taijutsu and/or ninjutsu.

Weapons and Body:

One instrument Ayaka uses in battle are four large bells that she keeps stitched to the side of her head band. Since the bells jingle whenever she walks or moves the sounds can be constantly manipulated. Her other instrument she uses is a pan flute. It makes louder music and is more easily controlled since it’s not constantly making music. She tends to use it less often than her bells. Ayaka has relatively good accuracy with kunai and shuriken, but has poor hand-to-hand combat but she makes up for it with technique and knowledge. She has a very poor amount physical strength. In terms of movement she has average speed, she isn’t too fast but can keep up fine when she needs to.

Ayaka has an average amount of chakra and chakra level. However, Ayaka can sufficiently control and conserve it with ease do to her years of training. She can mould and manipulate her chakra to it's fullest extent with the aid of percise concentration and hand seals. She has developed an excellent control over her chakra by Part I, and as such she has a consistent ability to use her clan techniques efficiently without wasting her chakra. Ayaka also has good timing; this combined with good control makes her very proficient in her abilities.

Kekkei Genkai:

See Section Three, Sub Section Two.

Her Kekkei Genkai has come in but in pre-shippuden she has yet to use it in battle. She has trained with it though. When she uses it, it puts to much of a physical demand on her body and can't fight or protect herself when she is done using it because her body is so exhausted.

In Naruto Shippuden and in the break she can use her Kekkei Genkai better. She most oftenly uses it to locate people and areas, but doesn't battle with it much because her body can't handle to chakra it drains and still be able to fight afterwards.

Other Jutsus:

Ayaka uses a ninjutsu technique using her Kekkei Genkai. Using her Chakra Control; she condenses her silver chakra outside her body that she converted from music and then propels it at the target. This ninjutsu damages the opponent from the inside, it damages some of the chakra inside their body so their energy and ability is drained. By using Sacchigan she can use this to attack opponents she can't see or find otherwise. This is called Music Note Chakra Technique.

The second technique is not a Kekkei Genkai technique. It is Music Clone Technique. A few clones are created using Chakra that was converted from music. The technique allows the Chouwa user to make a Shadow Clone infused with their Music Chakra. Because it is a shadow clone, it is able to perform techniques and interact with the environment due to it having physical substance; and also evenly distributes the user's chakra to each clone. If the clone is injured, it will revert to its natural music note, at the same time making a loud screeching note; disorienting anyone who hears it for a few seconds.

Ayaka,Chii Herbalism

Ayaka and Chii with the written basics of Herbology.

Some knowledge passed down to Ayaka from her mother is her knowledge of herbology; which means she is well researched in the medicinal properties of plants. Since Chii could not teach her daughter anything about ninja techniques she decided to teach her about medicine. Ayaka was expected to often take tests given to her by her mother to make sure she could remember the properties of plants. Ayaka is good at distinguishing edible plants from poisonous plants. She is also good at using plants to treat skin ailments, fevers, influenza, allergies, upset stomach, sore throat and other minor sicknesses. In addition to that she can list the healing aspects and adverse effects of plants by hearing their name and by looking at them. She carries a small notebook in her hip pouch with recorded information on her known plants. Ayaka is also very intelligent and graduated in the top 33% of her class. She has the ability to figure her way out or around a bad situation. Ayaka also came up with some her team’s fighting techniques and helps her team cooperate with each other.

Story (Part I)

Introduction Arc:

Ayaka Chouwa is the talented, only child of the leader of her large clan. Her clan considers her a prodigy for her excellent skills at mastering the clans genjutsu at an early age. Despite her talents she has a lot to learn before she can inherit the rights to become clan leader. Ayaka is sweet and thankful for all she has been blessed with. Her ambitions are to become a well respected leader of her clan and to live up to her father’s expectations. Though Ayaka is diligent, obedient, and docile, she doesn’t realize she is too passive and reserved to be a leader yet. So Ayaka must learn to be more assertive and outspoken with her views. After becoming a genin she started up not only more vigorous ninja training, but leadership training as well. All seemed well until one night she came home and realized that her room was trashed as if someone had been looking for something. Throughout the next month she realized some of her things frequently went missing, and had her possessions destroyed.

Chunin Exam Arc:

After failing her Chunin exams in the first fight of the third stage, Ayaka becomes distressed. She begins to worry that she does not contain the leadership qualities and strength to ever be promoted, let alone a clan leader. Later on, she goes to pray at a Shinto shrine for guidance. Her cousin, Shō approached her at the time and asked her for help with finding something; thus tricking her into the forest. Sho, using his techniques, attacked Ayaka planning to kill her and dispose of her body with use of cremation. (Problems between the two shown in the relationship category) Upon confession to her, she learned his motive, that with her dead, he would reveal his abilities and be next in line to be leader and that he had been destroying her things to successfully scare her. Ayaka fought Shō bravely, but was unable to overpower him and ends up beaten within an inch of her life. However, Ayaka is able to contact her father with a song from her flute using her Chouwa Telepathy Technique. Before Shō could kill Ayaka, Kai was able to show up causing Shō to run off. Ayaka later awakend at the Konoha Hospital a few days later. Then she was able to explain what happened to her parents and friends. Kai and Chii were able to inform her that Shō abandoned the village the night after he attacked her. One problem is that since Shō was never officially a shinobi; the daimyo and the Third Hokage were having trouble deciding whether he should actually be declared a missing-nin . They eventually decide to do so because of his abilities. Ayaka was still in a mild traumatic-state from the attack so she is allowed to stay in the hospital for the next week.

Kai and Chii were able to inform her that Shō abandoned the village the night after he attacked her. One problem is that since Shō was never officially a ninja; the daimyo and the Third Hokage were having trouble deciding whether he should actually be declared a missing-nin. They eventually decide to do so because of his abilities. Ayaka is still mild traumatic-state at this time from the attack so she is allowed to stay in the hospital for the next week. While there, She is visited by her family members, friends, clans members, teammates and Sensei. While in the hospital her uncle-in-law, Satoru, (Sho’s dad)also made a visit to her. He talked with her about Sho’s problems, jealousy and mental state. Satoru also admitted that he feels that Sho's problems are partially his fault. He then told Ayaka that Chii wanted to be Sho's maternal figure but he pushed her away from their lives because she reminded him too much of Chizu, which made it harder to cope with her death; not realizing how the lack of a maternal figure would affect his son. He also gives her an apology on his behalf that he couldn’t raise Shō better. Ayaka has no problem forgiving him and promises she won’t give up on Sho. With that promise, Satoru gives her the information that Shō had recently become obsessed with proving himself more powerful than what people believed him to be capable of. He also informs her he was able to see Shō the night he left but was unable to stop him. He was able to get the information that he was heading to Orochimaru to become one of his followers in exchange for power and he noticed a strange mark(Cursed seal of Heaven) on his neck. Ayaka then recieves the information that these marks come from Orochimaru. Satoru and Ayaka predict together that Shō chose to go with him because he wants to prove to himself that he is powerful and worthy, but is actually hurting on the inside. Ayaka makes a refusal to disown Shō as her family and believes he can still be rehabilitated.

Ayaka, with the very reluctant permission of her parents, makes a visit to Hiruzen Sarutobi , the third Hokage. In which at the meeting she reasons (begs) that Shō not be marked for death as a missing-nin. Ayaka explains that she believes that Shō can become rehabilitated with enough reasoning, intensive therapy, and frequent watch. She asks that instead of death-marking that he can become a Konohagakure citizen once more after retrieval. Sarutobi, being Hokage, had already acquired a habit of attempting to end things peacefully, and did what he could to avoid bloodshed amongst his allies and his enemies. He is able to see Ayaka’s reasoning. The Hokage makes the comprise that, Shō will not be marked for death but upon any possible return, will be jailed for an allotted amount of time. When Ayaka request that she is the one to be sent on the mission to retrieve him, he is reluctant since it would be a B-ranked mission. Ayaka explains since that Sho’s problems are with her that she is the only one who can get through to him. Sarutobi agrees and organizes a team for retrieval. Ayaka respects and admires Sarutobi even more than she did before, because of his sympathy, mercy and understanding. Her friends, especially Ino and Kikyo, think Ayaka is crazy for still wanting to be affiliated with Sho; but she simply explains how important family and forgiveness is to her. Tenshi was actually angry for a while that she is willing to forgive him. When Ayaka leaves for the mission a few weeks later the mission ends up dry and they were unable to find Shō or get any leads to Orochimaru. whereabouts. She gets very depressed over this.

Invasion of Konoha Arc:

Ayaka returns to Konoha with news going from bad to worse. She returns home with the news that Konoha was invaded the day before they got home. Orochimaru was present and murdered the Hokage. Ayaka falls into an even deeper depression at this time and has a difficult time being pulled out of it. She along with the rest of Konoha attends the Hokage's funeral and mourns his death. She, in response, throws herself into her training, missions and lessons to distract herself from her feelings. Ayaka even struggles with her spirituality for awhile but her faith is stronger in the end. With the help of her friends, family and team she is pulled out of her depression.

Ayaka with the help of her friends and family is able to channel her depression and turn it into determination to get stronger both physically and mentally. She realizes it may take a long time but she vows that she will never give up on her cousins possibility of rehabilitation, like she will never give up on her clan once she is leader. At this point in her life she starts becoming slightly more assertive and slightly more outspoken with non-superiors. Soon after Ayaka’s revelation, Konoha hits another tragedy. Sasuke’s leaving to Orochimaru. She was saddened by his decision but she, never really knowing Sasuke that well wasn’t very affected until she realized how upset Ino was over this. Ayaka comforts Ino during the acceptance of this and because of their similar dilemmas, and their friendship becomes stronger. Since Ino gets closer Sakura after Sasuke’s leaving, Ayaka becomes more fond of her as well and sees more of her. However, the two do not consider each other more than friendly acquaintances. In the time that Sakura and Ino train to become medic-nins, Ayaka trains to get stronger, improve her taijutsu, and continues to go on missions with her team. As she moves on with other parts of her life, and as she gets no leads to where her cousin is, she starts doubting that she'll ever be able to bring her cousin back. After speaking to her friend Naruto she starts to believe she can again. She could relate to him in the fact that people they cared for deserted their village. (However, she saw Naruto's situation as much worse since Sasuke was his best friend and Shō and herself never had a close relationship.) Ayaka was somewhat inspired that Naruto hasn't gave up on finding his friend Sasuke. Seeing the determination that Naruto had to his friend made Ayaka decided to follow Naruto's example and never give up hope. After this she starts looking up to Naruto as an emotional role model.

End of Part I.

Story (Part I-II Break)

Ayaka grows considerably as a person in the Part I – Part II. She matures in terms of sensitivity and is less easily hurt due to what she experienced at ages 11-12. During these 2 ½ years she also grows in skill level all around and grows as a person.

Search for Shō "Arc" (Age 12 ½ ):

Ayaka has been training exceptionally hard with her father and Satoru. She learns that Satoru is very skilled in his abilities; debatably even more so than her father. With his help she is able to quickly and significantly advance her abilities in both taijutsu, strength, hand seals and ninjutsu. She also spends more time around Satoru at his home since he admittedly still feels uncomfortable around Chii. They realize that they are both using each other to cope with Sho’s leaving but they also create a familiar friendship and love that they did not have before.

Later on Kai fears that his daughter maybe slipping back into her depression since she seems more distant during their training together. When he asks his wife; she confirms that Ayaka had been voluntarily gardening with her less often. When Kai confronts her about it Ayaka admits that she is starting to feel a little useless since she feels like she could be doing more to bring Shō home. Kai then leaves to see Tsunade. He asks her permission if he can accompany his daughter on a mission that would help them find Sho. Tsunade is originally reluctant but eventually decides that Kai, as an experienced Jōnin and former Anbu member, knows what he doing and grants him permission. Kai and Ayaka then go on the assigned mission to collect information on Orochimaru and Sho.

Their journey takes the two of them to Otogakure in The Land of Sound . They reach there with little trouble and running into few rogue ninja. On the first couple days, they don’t get much information and have to end up having to book a motel for a few nights. Simultaneously was traveling around Otagakure; seeking out people for Orochimaru to perform new experiments on. (Previously, Orochimaru had promised he could grant him more power if he could experiment on him. Which Shō was more than willing to allow as long as if he was sure it would be successful. In response Orochimaru sent him to find subjects of the same body type, gender and age.) While searching in a town Shō finds out through hearsay and double hearsay that a girl who matches Ayaka’s description perfectly had been traveling around Otagakure, searching for a boy who matched his description. He is able to find out the town she is staying at. He takes a short hiatus from his mission to search for her. On the Ayaka and her father’s third day in Otagakure, they receive little bits and pieces of information on Sho’s possible location and one of Orochimaru’s hideouts. However some of the information received contradicted each other. In response the two split up and go to two different towns in order to confirm which information is correct. The Ayaka and Kai make a rendezvous point after a set amount of time. Kai gives her explosive tags and a couple smoke bombs , in case she were to run into trouble, before they separate.

Ayaka reaches her destination in a short time in a rather optimistic mood since the town seems relatively friendly. However, Ayaka quickly runs into a setback; she quickly realizes that no one is taking her seriously without her father with her. She doesn’t get any information and when she tries to be as serious as possible the towns people just become more amused by her. After wasting a full two hours getting nowhere she decides to go back to the rendezvous point. While on the path to the destination is able realize she is being followed or watched by someone. When Shō sees her, while he is in the treetops, he attacked her with a an explosive tag wrapped around a kunai. However, he ended up hitting one of Her music shadow clones. Ayaka is able to locate him quickly attack him from behind but he dodges it causing them both to fall out of the treetops. The two engaged in a battle with each other. To both of their surprise, they were pretty easily matched due to Her excessive training. This is in contrast to the last time when Shō easily overpowered Ayaka. Throughout the battle, Ayaka tried reasoning with Sho; telling him that he isn’t marked for death and everyone just wants him back. She also tries to get through to him that he doesn’t have anything to prove and he belongs at home. Sho, having turned his back on his clan and village, easily ignores what she is trying to say.

In battle, Shō becomes frustrated that Ayaka is matched with him, as she is able to get more hits in after improving her techniques especially her Hearing Switch Jutsu and her Wind Cutter Technique. After she is able to successfully trap him in their clans genjutsu he becomes infuriated because he was not able to trap her in the same jutsu in the fight, but he is able to dispel the genjutsu. In this moment Shō activates his Cursed Seal, Shō uses the enhanced speed and strength it gives him to quickly overcome Ayaka and strike her repeatedly. Being able to only dodge about half the hits Shō attacked her with, Ayaka gets some critical injuries and the pan flute she keeps in her obi shatters. Ayaka then tries to reason with him again, only to have Shō ultimately reject her efforts once more and continue attacking her.

Meanwhile, back at the rendezvous point Kai starts to wonder why Ayaka is so late coming back. After waiting for a few more minutes he decides to go look for her. Kai travels in the direction of the town she was headed to. On the way he activates his Sacchigan in order to track her down. Due to the extra sensory hearing this grants, he is able to faintly hear his daughter struggling in a battle a quarter mile away. He rushes off in the direction of the battle to come to her aid.

Ayaka decides that the attempt to reason with him while they are battling is futile. She realizes that the only way to help him is to knock him out and force him back to Konohagakure; hoping that Satoru and maybe Chii could be the voice of reason for her cousin. Deciding that she has no choice, Ayaka activates her Sacchigan, so that she can use her Music Note Chakra Technique more effectively; with the plan to damage the chakra inside Sho’s body to temporarily paralyze him. This evens out the playing field again and Ayaka is able to land a couple of hits, but because of Sho’s increased speed she is unable to hit the critical points that she needs to, to do significant damage. Shō activates his own Sacchigan winch turns the tables again making himself more powerful than his cousin. He is able to hit her in the vital points of her Chakra Pathway System , seriously damaging her own Chakra.

Ayaka falls to the ground, temporarily paralyzed and is forced out of her dōjutsu, which has made her body very weak anyway. Sho, right before getting ready to kill her with his naginata, asks her “Why do you keep coming back for me?” Ayaka at this point accepts that she is about to meet death, but she simply answers that it’s because she loves him. Shō is taken back and shocked by her statement and actually doesn’t even fully understand what she means by it, so he simply asks “why?”. Ayaka tells him that she loves him because he is her family, and even others (including himself) can’t see the good deep down inside him, she can and always could. She also says that she’ll never give up on him. Shō pauses goes into disbelief for a few moments. Shō subconsciously decides that it’s easier to believe that she is lying. Right as he lifts his naginata to impale her, he is attacked and knocked back by Kai’s own stronger Wind Cutter Technique.

The two fight very shortly. Shō knows that he won’t win a fight with Kai even with his curse mark since he is already weakened and tired from his fight with Ayaka, so he uses one of the smoke bombs he was able to grab off of Ayaka’s person to confuse Kai and escape. Her father becomes angered and frustrated that he let Shō escape after hurting his daughter for a second time. He then gets Déjà vu of some of the feelings he had the night his daughter almost died. He realizes that it isn’t the time or place as Ayaka comes limping over to him, as she just got back her ability to move. He carries her to the nearest medical huts in one of the towns to get assistance for her wounds. One the way back he light-heartedly jokes that he’s always going to be saving her butt, making Ayaka laugh.

Back in Konohagakure Kai realizes that Ayaka is saddened by the fact may be deemed marked for assassination. Seeing her hurt makes him able to overlook his haste for Sho. When reporting back to Tsunade he informs her of the mission and the little information they received on Orochimaru but leaves out the information of his and Ayaka’s battle. Ayaka later tells Satoru what happened, but is able to deliver the good news that Shō seemed affected by what she said to him. She and her family move on from the thought of bringing Shō back as soon as they hoped, but she and Satoru still don’t give up on his possibility of rehabilitation.

Second Chunin Exams "Arc"(Age 12 ½-13) :

Ayaka continues to train to get stronger to better herself as a kunoichi. Ayaka is pretty proud that without the aid of kekkei genkai or curse marks she is now evenly matched with her cousin. However, Ayaka is no longer training in hopes to bring Shō back, because she now knows that strength alone will not rehabilitate Sho. She knows that it has to come from within side himself. Ayaka's prays constantly that her cousin will find the right path, making her faith even stronger than it was before. Approximately four months after Ayaka's latest incident with Shō she turns thirteen years old. Right around this time she and the rest of Team Z start preparing to take the Chunin exams again. Of course this time around they have an upper hand since they have had past experience with the Chunin exams. Each of them are able to pass to the third stage of the exams and obtain the rank of Chunin. Ayaka is passed for her intelligence, diligence and improvement;Tenshi is passed for his strategic aptitude and diligence; Osamu is passed for his ambition and strength.

Leading in to Part II:

A year later Ayaka is realised for her Jonin-level skill in the area of Genjutsu, hand seal knowledge and special skills (botanical medicine). She is promoted to Tokubetsu Jōnin because of this. Ayaka now goes on more A-rank missions but continues to go on missions with her team. She also acts as a subordinate to regular jōnin when her services are needed.

Creation and Conception

Plot and Character Development:

Ayaka Chouwa in her early development was set to be the polar opposite of Sasuke Uchiha in personality; due to the creators dislike of many fan-characters copying Sasuke's story and/or personality.

Ayaka was given a similar early childhood as Sasuke, surronded by family, in a large talented clan; in which her father was leader. The main difference was her relationship with her father; whom payed a lot of attention her and saw her as a prodigy even when she wasn't advancing in her abilities as fast as he hoped. Though the two are similar in that they trained hard in hopes of making their fathers proud. Ayaka's traumatic event didn't come until later in her life after she was already a genin. The differences are easily seen though. Instead of her family member killing relatives; her family member tried to kill her.(Sho, whom was originally written to be her brother. This was changed due to hit mirroring Sasuke's story to much) The other difference is that Sasuke originally had a good relationship. Sho, however, openly resented Ayaka. The third and most prominent difference is that Ayaka didn't seek revenge; seeing losing a family member as an unnecessary vice. Revenge being Sasuke's motivating factor; Love being Ayaka's factor. She instead decided no matter how corrupted her cousin was, that he could be rehabilatated if she expressed her love and acceptance of him despite what he did. The reason Ayaka did not fall into depression, or develop an anxiety or stress disorder after her almost death was because of her concern for Shō and his pain. Ayaka's defining factor is supposed to be her beauty as a person. Though she is designed to be "pretty" it's rarely ever commented on by anyone at all (besided her parents and relatives). People she meets usually completely set aside any of her physical beauty; because she is loved and amiable for the beauty within herself and the kindness in her heart.

Ayaka's changes from the creators orignal ideas.

  • In original development She was planned to be buddhist, her religion was later changed to Shinto.
  • Shō was originally made to be Ayaka's older brother, 2 years her senior. It was changed to a cousin relationship. This added more room for Sho's hostitlity to develop towards Ayaka.
  • Ayaka's full name was originally Ayaka Chii Chouwa. Her middle name was later dropped after research suggesting in Japan middle names generally not used. The nickname Chibi-Chii was added instead.
