Shizuko Uchiha (うちは静子, Uchiha Shizuko) is a Jōnin level kunoichi from Konohagakure's Uchiha Clan. She became part of the Saiyaku Clan through marriage and is a member of Team Shiragiku. She, alongside Sasuke Uchiha, is one of the few members left of the Uchiha Clan.
Background[]
Shizuko was born as the only daughter of Sae and Atsuhiro Uchiha, born 10 months prior to the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack. However, after the attack took place, a lot of tensions started forming as many people targeted the Uchiha blaming them for not helping the village. Atsuhiro didn't want his child to live in such environment so he and his wife packed their bags and left the village, heading all the way to the outskirts of Kumogakure. The couple settled there and would live a peaceful life, Atsuhiro started working as a ninja for Kumogakure's shinobi and Sae became a full time housewife. All while keeping their clan and previous lives a secret, so that their daughter could grow up without problem. Shizuko was able to live a peaceful life for her first few years of existence.
Sometime after Shizuko became 8 years old, the Uchiha Clan massacre took place in Konohagakure and the news spread like wildfire. Once Atsuhiro and Sae got notice they knew they needed to leave as they could be easily tracked. Shizuko's parents started packing everything and one day after she got home from the academy, she was given a small backpack. Before her parents could say anything, however, Atsuhiro was able to sense a couple of ninja headed into their direction. Sae would then hide Shizuko inside a closet and tell her to keep quiet. Shizuko was small and didn't know what was going on, but those were her mother's orders and she had to follow. As her parents sat down, accepting their fate in order to save their daughter, Shizuko was a witness on how three unknown Anbu members got inside her home. Her parents quickly died at the hands of the strangers and Shizuko was left traumatized. She wanted to cry, she wanted to scream but the fear just left her silent. She saw the strangers walk around her house as she prayed not to be seen by them. Fear struck her as she noticed one of the Anbu members looking at the direction of the closet. Her red eyes, that had just awaken the Sharingan, glowed faintly and gave away her position. One could say it was pure luck that he didn't say anything. The strange men left their home, taking her parents's corpses with them. Shizuko stayed inside the closet for around an hour until she finally got out. The smell of blood made her nauseous so she ran outside. She was now alone with no one to take care of her. Shizuko didn't cry, but she couldn't do anything else. She took a quick peek on her backpack and noticed a letter addressed to the Third Hokage of Konohagakure, which made her gather enough strength to move. She went back inside her house, grabbed a jacket and food, and started walking with one objective in mind: Konohagakure.

The voyage wasn't easy however, as it took quite a long while getting to the limit of the Land of Lightning. Her legs hurt, her food was close to none and she was tired. Shizuko couldn't stop now, knowing that she could be hunted down next. She continued walking until she reached the Land of Frost. When she stumbled upon Shimogakure, she started asking for shelter but no one opened their house to her. Shizuko was exhausted, so she put on her warmest coat and tried to get some sleep. The little girl couldn't get any sleep nonetheless, as the image of her parents was enough to wake her up immediately. She ate the last of her food and continued walking towards Konoha. She eventually reached the Land of Hot Water and collapsed on the ground, she thought that was the end of her life and was going to accept it without problem. She slept for 4 days straight and woke up in an unknown house that belonged to an elderly couple and a young male shinobi. The elderly woman told her that their son had found her after returning from a job, and that he brought her with them. The couple asked her how she ended up on such a state but she only replied that she needed to get to Konohagakure. Seeing her so desperate, the elderly couple would then give her food, a bath, and a bed for a couple days so that she could gain some strength. The man then offered to take her to Konoha in a wooden cart, but the girl denied as she was worried someone could have been going after her but she did accept a ride near the path towards the village. The journey lasted a couple of days until they got to their destination. Shizuko thanked the man once again and continued her journey for another several days until she finally reached Konoha. She was tired once again, as the journey had been equally as long. She would collapse once again on the entrance to the village and was taken by some jounin to the Konoha Hospital, in which the girl was treated. Not too long after waking up, the first thing Shizuko did was request for the Hokage. The nurses were confused but decided to call the Third Hokage so that she could talk to him. Once Hiruzen Sarutobi entered her room, she gave her the letter addressed to him. After a while, the man asked for her name to which she replied "Shizuko" but when asked about her last name, she said she didn't know. The Hokage would later explain to her that she was part of the Uchiha clan, and that it was a miracle she had gotten to the village by herself. The man gave her a hug and Shizuko, for the first time in perhaps weeks, cried as much as she was able to. She was finally safe.
Personality[]
Shizuko was a happy and cheerful child, eager to exceed the expectations put on her. As a child, Shizuko was a hard worker who did everything she could to please her parents, and in general, to make them feel proud of having her as a daughter. After witnessing the murder of her parents and having to escape from Kumogakure, Shizuko's childhood innocence was completely destroyed. She learned to mature and become independent at such a young age that she no longer knew how to be a child. Even after entering Konohagakure and knowing about the existence of another Uchiha, Shizuko seemed to be living on automatic. She had no purpose in her life, she was wandering around aimlessly just because she "knew" she wanted to live. There were times where she forgot her basic necessities, only for Sasuke to remind her of them. It was thanks to Sasuke's ambition of revenge that Shizuko found a "goal": helping Sasuke and being there for him.
Shizuko is an extremely intelligent young lady who just gets overpowered by the fact that she has no will to do anything. Minimum effort gave her good marks, and she had no complaints about it. She had always been very perceptive and intuitive, which already gave her a head start in comparison to her classmates at the academy. Even so, she became quite arrogant about it and often made snarky comments to those she deemed "stupid" but act innocent when superiors were present. After becoming a member of Team 9, her anxiety of being around people she never interacted with was too much to even care about their intellect which made this attitude disappear for a bit.
Due to only being close to Sasuke for many years and acting on an "automatic setting", Shizuko became a really quiet and reserved girl. A little before the chunin exam started, she was able to intimidate Naruto Uzumaki with a quick angry glance at his direction. Shizuko's words were also regarded as insensitive and straight to the point, as she told the Nine Rookies that they should prepare to die at any second during the exam. Her small smile made this comment feel as an attack rather than an honest suggestion, which was actually her intention. When some of the rookies were trying to reply to her comment, she blatantly ignored them as Tomura explained that "she had gotten socially exhausted". While not speaking often, social interactions with large groups can overwhelm her quickly, which results in her escaping from conversations to recharge alone.
Shizuko also suffers from several anxiety attacks and PTSD throughout her childhood and Part I. The attacks started after the death of her parents, and thanks to them she "acquired" the ability to keep herself awake for quite long periods of time without needing to rest that often. During the second phase of the Chunin Exams, Tomura and Mitsubachi had to become her supports as the darkness of the forest would often trigger her attacks. It was also during the second phase of the chunin exams that Shizuko's intellect was properly shown. She was able to create many plans on how to counter the different teams in order to retrieve the Earth scroll from them after gathering information about them. She was also able to think quickly on a plan as to win her semifinal encounter and seemed disappointed when she couldn't continue it. Shizuko was bad taking compliments about this, when people praised her intelligence she dismissed them saying it was only her anxiety planning things ahead of time.
After Naruto returns to the village, Shizuko had already changed significantly. She was more social than before, being able to hold long conversations without tiring herself and seemed more tactful with her words. Tomura mentions that Shizuko was also able to work on her mental health during the two years Naruto was away, but she still needs someone to help her when her attacks are triggered as Sasuke was the last person to take care of her during these events. In general, she seemed a more cheerful person in comparison to her younger self. Shizuko had also found a goal: Save Sasuke from the darkness that clouded him.
Once Itachi died, and Shizuko received a letter detailing what exactly happened with the Uchiha massacre and her parent's death, Shizuko started accumulated hatred inside of her and unfortunately, falling victim of the Uchiha Clan's Curse of Hatred. Her attitude was starting to resemble Sasuke's but in a much minor scale, to the point in which she only wanted vengeance against Danzo Shimura. She became unempathetic and ruthless towards her enemies, even during missions. She became very vocal about her disagreement of Danzo being chosen as the sixth Hokage as well, calling him and the elders all murderers and even going out of her way to attack Danzo in public with her Mangekyo. Even with this her plan didn't fail, as she wasn't able to be put on trial due to no one but Danzo having witnessed the sharingan. Shizuko was also able to pull the narrative that, due to Sasuke's actions, he was trying to unfairly blame her as well and received support from many people including the Murasaki Clan. After receiving the second letter detailing Danzo's death and the little "gift" of her parent's eyes, she had mixed feelings as she wanted to get rid of the man herself. However, she sent one of her axolotl summons to look for Sasuke as to thank him for what he did.
After the Fourth Shinobi World War ended, Shizuko's mental state improved significantly. Having been able to say a proper goodbye to her parents, and knowing that the cause of her unhappiness was no more, Shizuko became a better version of herself. While still having trouble opening her emotions to others, she was able to make her feelings known to Tomura Saiyaku, her teammate and the person that always stayed by her side to help her. Even though their relationship started as something no more than classmates, over the time the two became close enough that Shizuko became quite attached to him and knew she wouldn't be able to be alone anymore. The two are actually the first couple to get engaged and marry prior to the events in The Last, and later have 5 children together. Even after having kids, Shizuko is still quite bad at showing her emotions and is quite distant with her family, mostly because of work. Still, she is able to show her affection through her actions, as she will often hug her children like her mother did with her before.
Appearance[]
Shizuko is a relatively tall girl with fair skin, black eyes and curly black hair with blue tints. Shizuko's hair goes through some changes during her life as she used to have pretty long hair when she was younger, as seen during Part I where her low ponytail would reach to her lower back. She decided to cut it shorter before Part II takes place, now with a shoulder length hairstyle. As of Part II, Shizuko develops a very shapely figure. She is considered a pretty girl by most boys of her generation.
During Part I, Shizuko is seen wearing a black, zippered, short sleeved shirt with a high collar, black shorts underneath a short lilac apron skirt, small silver hoops, blue shinobi sandals and mesh around her thighs and calves. She's seen wearing her forehead protector as a belt and a bracelet that includes a small yin pendant, this bracelet is one of two (Shizuko gifted the yang version to Sasuke). The Uchiha clan symbol appears on the back of her shirt. Shizuko also wears her shuriken holster on her right leg and a standard ninja tool pouch on the back of her waist.
In Part II, Shizuko wears a long sleeved dark purple, zippered, long sleeved shirt with a high collar, black shorts and black thigh-high styled shinobi sandals with a small heel. She also wears mesh on her legs and wrists. Like in her Part I outfit, the Uchiha clan symbol is on the back of her shirt. Shizuko keeps the ninja tool pouch on the back of her waist and her shuriken holster on her right leg. She doesn't wear her bracelet anymore as she fears it would break. Abilities[]
Like her mother before her, Shizuko is recognized as a prodigy born in the Uchiha Clan. Graduating as one of the best of her class in the academy, Shizuko is a kunoichi who makes a strong impression on her sensei and peers as she was able to fight on par with strong shinobi during Part I. After training under Shiragiku Murasaki during the time-skip, Shizuko becomes strong enough to fight many strong opponents and even defeat her own mother.
Chakra and Physical Prowess[]
Shizuko's chakra could be considered quite strong. During the few moments in which Shizuko's Curse of Hatred is present, others are able to remark how her chakra flickers from "light" to "dark". Her chakra reserves also seem to be quite large, as during Part I she was able to use the Great Fireball Technique three consecutive times without exhausting herself. By Part II, she's able to use this jutsu and other similar chakra consuming techniques with ease as well as summon large creatures as large as Kuromi. Her chakra control is high, although it is worth mentioning that it is not as refined as Tomura Saiyaku's or Sakura Haruno's.
Shizuko is pretty standard at Taijutsu, she's not excessively strong but she isn't that weak either. While hand-to-hand combat is not exactly her strong suit, her speed and reflexes are really good. Shizuko is able to dodge attacks with ease and counter attack. After re-awakening her Sharingan, Shizuko noticed her eyes were moving quicker than her body which misbalanced her abilities. Shizuko decided to concentrate on honing her speed and reflexes so that she can react to the Sharingan's heightened visual information, which she accomplishes by analyzing Sasuke's movements as well as Rock Lee's and Tomura's.

- Her given name Shizuko (静子) means "Quiet child". Her surname "Uchiha" is another way of pronouncing "uchiwa" (団扇, paper fan), which is the clan's symbol. Uchiwa can be used to fan flames, making the flame hotter — referring to the fact that the Uchiha is a clan of Fire Release users. Her complete name would mean: "Quiet paper fan child".
- Her nickname "Hellfire Butterfly" is a reference to her Mangekyo Sharingan ability.
- Even though she is part of the Uchiha clan, she lived in Kumogakure for most of her childhood. It was until her parents met their early demise that she moved to Konoha.
- Until a certain point of her life she didn't use her clan name, since her parents had cut ties with the Uchiha, but started using it once she entered Konohagakure.
- Although she was married to the Saiyaku Clan, she doesn't want to take their last name.
- While both parties retained their respective surnames, Tomura decided to name his children "Uchiha" as she knew how important the clan was to Shizuko. With their youngest daughter, however, Shizuko used the "Saiyaku" surname instead.
